Can one product do both?
It can be positioned for both, but it will not win either. Buyers who sell into a curl market consistently get better results with a dedicated definition product.
What sells first in a curl range?
A cream or a leave-in. Both are used after washing, both are easy to demonstrate, and both create a reason to buy the shampoo that goes with them.
Do we need different formulas per curl type?
Not always. Many successful lines use one formula and split the range at the packaging and copy level, then add a second formula only when the first one sells.
